Make sure all your equipment is in good working condition and you have two sets of fully charged batteries on hand each and every time you do an investigation. There are a lot of different equipment to use during paranormal investigations. I have only listed some of the basics to give you a good start. I have not mentioned all of them. But before you buy I recommend doing your research on the item first. I suggest reading the reviews for an item by experienced Paranormal investigators themselves.

2
Do not smoke or dip on any investigations. Be sure you do not wear hair spray or any hair products in your hair during investigations. Be sure you are clean and not wearing any perfumes or cologne. (this is in case a scent from the past/spirits is present) This will back up your evidence in the long run.

3
Pick your investigation locations. Try to get permission for the location if possible. No trespassing means no trespassing. Do research on the location and document each and every detail during the investigations. Example-If you cough during a voice recording then document the time so that you will know it was you or you can add that to that case file.
After you have arrived at your investigation location set up shop and prepare yourself emotional because spirits can sense the unseen as well. I recommend having a lot of patience if you are going to do investigations because you will need it.
It is best to bring some one along with you that you can trust. I don't recommend doing this alone even though I've been a active paranormal investigator off and on for the past ten years and have investigated many locations alone. To be on the safe side always bring a buddy. Keep your cell phone in the car or ringer off during your investigations. -

During investigations it is recommend you snap photos during camcorder filming. If you capture something in your video you will have the photos to back that up as well. Remain quiet during your investigation until you are speaking to them.
How to use your voice recordings for EVP's. Place a fully charged digital voice recorder down where it is not next to anything else (open area). Now have your digital video recorder rolling as well during your EVP taking. See next step on how to ask the right questions for your EVP's. -

These are just a few sample questions to ask during your digital voice recordings. Pause after each questions to give the spirit time to respond. ALWAYS try to be as quiet as possible not to interrupt your evp. I also introduce myself before each and every investigation. You will get better evidence if your friendly.
Hello is anyone here?
If you are here please speak to me
What is your name?
How old are you?
Where are you from?
How did you die?-remember most spirits don't know their dead but I still ask.
Will you show yourself to me/us?
You get the picture so just ask these questions or what ever you can come up with. -

How to use your digital video recorder and camera...
Set your video recorder on a tripod and make sure you use the night vision if filming during the night. During your recording ask a few questions to the spirits but ask it to show itself and to prove your here type of thing.
And as I've mentioned above also be snapping a few photos here and there during the recording. Make sure to have your video recorder set up in an open area to capture as much area as possible. Have nothing blocking your video recorder view points. -

To use you digital camera...
Always use a flash if it is in the evenings. Remove your camera straps. Keep your fingers away from your lens. Wear your hair up if your a female or male and have long enough hair that it will get in the picture. You do not want anything flawing up your evidence. -

Carefully review all your hard work afterward this can be difficult and will take a long time. - if your not careful you could miss something awesome.
Use the best software on your computer to listen to your voice recordings and to view your photos close up. Look at each and every photo and video recording film to see any evidence that might be there.
Make sure to cut out the voice recordings and photos or film that doesn't have anything if your 100% positive that isn't anything. I normally check everything closely twice just to make sure I didn't miss anything.
